The next time the Sox have a runner on first, Ortiz at the plate and two out in the ninth and you wonder if first base coach Ruben Amaro is crazy enough to send the runner, consider this: the man had no problem joining fellow coaches Carl Willis, Chili Davis, Torey Lovullo, Victor Rodriguez and Dana LeVangie to lip sync Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl” in front of a thousand or so people during Red Sox Winter Weekend. So the shame and fear factor is basically non-existent.

Here’s my crappy video of said event, which may or may not get slapped with a music rights infringement muting on YouTUbe by the time you check it.

Of course the players one-upped the old timers with a rousing lip sync of the Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way.” You can see that abomination in this clip from redsox.com:
