One of the things I get tired of hearing about is the lack of home runs from Xander Bogaerts. Hell, I love the long ball as much as the next person, but with X already one of the great young talents in the game, currently ranking among the top five batters in the league, and very likely to crack 200 hits this season, it’s time to just appreciate the fact that the kid makes solid contact and is guaranteed to get on base at least two, maybe three times per game. He’s a catalyst, man, and sometimes that’s all you need to be (see Boggs, Wade).
That said, people still bitch about how X should be racking up more dingers. Which made the silent treatment he got from his teammates after belting his first home run of the season last night even better.
