autisis

I know this is a Red Sox baseball blog, but I wanted to make a quick break over to the world of college football for one of those rare sports stories that re-affirms your faith in humanity.

Earlier this week, a group of Florida State University football players visited a local middle school. During lunch, FSU’s Travis Rudolph sat down next to a red headed kid eating all by himself, who just happened to be autistic. It was a simple gesture — wouldn’t this world be a somewhat better place if we all took a seat next to the kid eating alone? — but it inspired a genuinely touching Facebook post from the child’s mother.

In a world so obsessed with bad news, especially bad new concerning athletes, this story just feels good.
