One day, back in April, while I was still suffering from Post Valentine Stress Syndrome, I made a wager on the Red Sox. Something about how many games they would or would not win. Who knows, odds are, I was drunk. Actually, the truth is, I lost faith in my team after the abomination that was September of 2011 and the entire 2012 debacle. It happened once before, back in 2004, so I’m hoping it’s some sort of omen.

As the graphic shows, my debt has been paid and I am humbled by Mr. Blue, he of the bold and accurate prediction. And I really am happy to lose this bet for three reasons:

1) The Jimmy Fund is my favorite charity. And the Jimmy Fund Walk is a truly amazing event. I’ve done the 13 miles once and the full marathon twice and it is both heartbreaking and incredibly inspiring.

2) The Red Sox are going to be playing October baseball.

3) I get a chance to honor Red’s dad, one of the finest men I’ve ever known.
