The Red Sox are getting close to a deal that would likely keep David Ortiz in a Red Sox uniform until he retires. Reports are the offer is for two years, paying Ortiz between thirteen and fifteen million per year.
Personally, I love the deal. Ortiz has been a favorite of mine since he joined the team in 2003. But beyond how I feel, the Sox need his bat in the line-up. Other than Dustin Pedroia and Jacoby Ellsbury (when he’s healthy), the Sox have a bunch of slap-hitters and maybes in the line-up.
This is the type of story that makes me want it to be April tomorrow.
