There’s little revelation to a recent report on ESPNBoston that Daisuke Matsuzaka could be had in a trade. We’re fairly certain the Sox were leaving tainted sushi amongst the post-game spread all last season in an effort to rid themselves of their handsomely paid and highly erratic fifth starter.
More intriguing, however, is news in that same report that the Sox would send Tim Wakefield packing if the price was right.
Theo made a point of denying the report. And, let’s face it, this is the time of the year when such “news” flies fast and furious.
But while I definitely subscribe to Theo X’s theory that you improve the team by any means necessary, I’ll stand by what I said on Twitter earlier this morning: Trading Wake would be like trading your dad to another family. You just don’t do it.
