Last night we had a Sox win featuring John Lackey pitching brilliantly against his former team, a home run from Ortiz and some serious heat from Daniel Bard. These things alone should make my evening. But everything peaked for me during the pre-game Nomar tribute when the original Dirt Dog, all-around tough guy and proud double flusher Trot Nixon ambled onto the field. Sure, it’s always good to see the Dauber and Lou Merloni. But Trot’s presence immediately puts the opposing team on notice: “Act up, and we’ll unleash the fists of fury.” And don’t nobody want that.
