If there’s one guy I’d like to see come back in 2009 as a bencher, it’s Mark Kotsay. Sure, it seemed that everything he hit in the playoffs found its way into someone’s glove–I still recall how he came thisclose to driving in the winning run of the 2008 ALDS before Teixeixeif@#khim snared it, prompting heart attacks throughout The Nation–but he showed the kind of grit and glovework we like in our fourth outfielders/back-up first basemen. And let us not forget that his name lent itself nicely to the rallying cry in the post title above, which helped carry us through last October.
As Chad Finn points out, he’s likely looking for a starting gig, but I’m quietly hoping to see him back in the spring.
