Well that sucked out loud. I guess I was hoping after the bad news about Schilling, a good return outing from Dice-K would ease the pain. Kind of an “Even Steven” thing. Didn’t work out that way. Instead, the Card’s treated Dice-K like Ned Beatty and the Sox never really had a shot. Which one of the Teletubbies was gay? Anyway, write it off as a bad outing, look at the job the bullpen did, and move along. Nothing more to see here.
Today, the Sox turn to Jon Lester to salvage a win in the series. Lester hasn’t given up more than three earned runs in a start since April, and he hasn’t given up more than four all season. He’s won his last three starts, pitching into the 7th in each of them. In that span he’s walked just two batters and hasn’t given up a home run. So I like our chances.
The Sox need a few wins, it doesn’t look like the Rays are going away. And we’ve got the next throwdown with them coming up right after the interleague crapfest is over. See you at 1:30.
