Most of Red Sox Nation has been begging all season for a sign that ownership still cares about winning baseball games. For too long, they have focused on their portfolio and building “the brand.” To the point the club turned into the laughing stock of the majors. We became the kid that dressed funny and never bathed and picked his nose and maybe slipped that booger in his mouth if he thought nobody was watching.
Finally, mercifully, a deal was made. And suddenly the Red Sox have won three of their last four and seem to be playing with…what…a new sense of urgency? Granted, it’s a very small sample size, but I like what I’m seeing. Is it possible…is it even thinkable that this team can put a run together and snatch a Wild Card spot?
We all witnessed last season just how bad it can go. Is there any chance these guys pull a reverse-2011 and sneak into the playoffs on the last day of the season? At least it’s worth watching, who knows?
