I think you know the answer. The minor tweak of adding Breslow and dumping Albers will have no significant impact. If the Red Sox were interested in the post-season, the team would now be without the services of either Beckett, Lester or Ellsbury. Unless they have a plan for one of those to be traded after passing waivers, we’re looking at a .500 team.
Interesting subplot is tonight’s match-up of Verlander and Beckett. Will Josh give us reason to believe in him or will he throw in the towel? Will he pitch a gem to show his value for a post-deadline deal? I think he gets lit up like the Esplanade on July 4th. But what do I know.
