The Red Sox scored 10 runs and batted around the order in an inning for the first time in a month. They broke open a close game in the eighth with six runs. The real star was Doubront, taking a no-no into the sixth and striking out nine.
All of this launched the Sox into a tie for fourth with the Blue Jays. Which is to say they are no longer alone in last place. As I write this, Eck is pitching a pants tent about how great the Red Sox starting rotation is. I suspect alcohol is involved.
Ortiz, sporting a necklace that is obviously supercharged and probably cost more than I will make in my life, hit his 15th home run and drove in three, bringing his season total to 41. My question: does Ortiz come back for another year or two after this season?
