The Red Sox close out the month of July with ten games against some of the weakest teams in the American League. Three against Seattle starting tonight followed by four with the Royals, all seven games at home. Then it’s off to Chicago for three with the pale hose. The three opponents are a combined 34 games under .500 for the year. I’d like to call for a 10-game sweep…but I just don’t like tonight’s match-up.
John Lackey starts the show but the Red Sox line-up will have to get run support off of King Felix, no easy task, especially since they are likely to need more than a few runs. Throw in the fact that the M’s are riding a 12-game losing streak and are “due” (if there is such a thing), I just don’t get a good vibe about tonight. That being said, I’ll take a 9-1 stretch to wrap up July.
It should be about 120 degrees on the field for the start of the game. Grab a cold drink and meet me in front of the TV, won’t you?
