That headline might be begging for a hairy ass joke, but I’m not here for that today.
In my travels this weekend, I happened by a stack of some free mag called Boston Parents Paper with Youk and the lovely bride on the cover. I grabbed one, figuring it would make good bathroom reading (especially since I recently finished “Johnson & Johnson’s Windex: The Book”), and I was right.
Youk became a husband and a dad when he married wife Enza — she had a three year old son, Mikey, from a previous marriage — and the cover story offers some nice insight into Youk’s feelings on fatherhood. Thankfully, none of them involve equipping the kid with a fake beard.
“It was not fun to end the [2009] season on the note we ended. It was like two days later and I told Mikey, ‘Daddy doesn’t have to go back to work for a long time,’ and he had this look in his eyes. He gave me a huge hug and he was so excited. I took him to school, I picked him up. He just loved it! This off-season, more than anything, you just finally realize how much good we have in our relationship. Going forward will be great.”
Heartwarming stuff. Now let’s play ball.
