As promised yesterday, here are a few more vids I shot with my ultra-shytey camera during Saturday’s Hot Stove Cool Music concert at the House of Blues on Lansdowne.
First up, here’s Youk the Auctioneer, trying to shame a number of folks in the VIP suites into opening their wallets a bit wider for charity. Yes, he’s wearing a shirt that says “More Cowbell,” which is inexplicably awesome. For me, the best part of the whole evening was knowing that Youk and James Iha from Smashing Pumpkins were in the same place at the same time.
Next up is Theo Epstein and Lenny DiNardo with guitars in hand, backing up Buffalo Tom’s Bill Janovitz and Tom Maginnis for the BT classic “Taillights Fade,” which may be the greatest song ever written.
And here’s the show intro, with Gammons, Mike O’Malley and Theo introducing the first act, Bronson Arroyo. Note the part where O’Malley references Arroyo’s “run in” with Alex Rodriguez during the 2004 ALCS, and the fey “slapping” gesture that Theo makes in response:
I have a Kay Hanley clip as well that I’ll upload later on. The only thing I don’t have is any footage of the stellar set from Tinted Windows, because when Bun E. Carlos walks on stage, you pay attention. Period.
