2010. It still sounds so…futuristic. But here we are.
I wanted to echo Red’s sentiments about what our little corner lot in cyberspace means. We did start this blog out of sheer desperation to ease the pain of 2003 – the alternative wouldn’t have been pretty. So we started penning our thoughts on the Red Sox or twisted opinions about last night’s game or some trade in the works. At first, nobody came. Eventually, a handful of people tripped over our site and liked what they saw. I still remember Red and I having a joyous conversation when we actually hit 20 comments. We thought we had “made it.”
Six seasons and two World Series championships later, here we are. Soon enough we will start the countdown to Truck Day and Spring Training and before you know it, we will be in the full throes of the Mike Cameron Era. By then, who knows what madness Red will have introduced us to? Maybe some crazed JD Drew fan will catch me in the parking lot and end my SG career with a melon-baller. Hey, we watched the Sox come back from 3-0 to the Yankees in the ALCS and win their first World Series in 86 years: anything can happen.
While things are relatively calm and we haven’t fully throttled the SG machine to full power, I want to give a huge “THANK YOU” to everyone that has helped us along the way. Whether you just stop by and read before going on your way, or hang around and engage in some “friendly” banter in the comments section, or spend all of your hard earned money buying t-shirts, we appreciate it.
Great things to come in 2010, stick around!
