My two favorite worlds, baseball and music, collided yet again this week when Joe Torre, AKA He Whom I Can Now Appreciate Since He’s No Longer Managing the Yankees, was a guest on Conan’s Tonight Show along with none other than Spinal Tap. Torre was there to rep the badassery that comes with managing the LA Dodgers. Tap was there to promote their new disc, Back from the Dead.
You can watch the episode here (and it’s worth it just to hear Tap tear through their ’80s classic, “Heavy Duty.”) And despite his widely-touted hipster quotient, I’m convinced Torre figured the Tap fellas really were three nice but slightly confused chaps from England.
Oh, and here’s Tap’s “Bitch School.” The best-ever heavy-metal tune about a misbehaving dog.
