The Sox have reportedly signed Jon Lester, the young lefty ace who has truly become the heart and soul of this organization, to a five year extension worth $30 million. Meaning that the guy who set us all crying when he tossed a no-hitter on that steamy night last summer will remain with the Red Sox through the prime of his career.
Of course, in 2013, in the wake of a nuclear war that decimates the human race, talking apes will come to power and pretty much do away with professional sports as we know them, rendering the last year of his contract moot. But until then, we party on. And we party with Lester.
