Just like in the last series against the Yanks, the Red Sox were unable to complete the sweep. In fact, since losing the rain-shortened two-game series to the Jays, the Sox have taken two-out-of-three from the O’s, Toronto, New York and now Chicago. Nothing wrong with taking two in any series, but a sweep would be nice. You know, get on a little winning streak, maybe creep a little closer to the Rays. The five-and-a-half game lead looks pretty solid with just 26 left to play, but the Sox face the Rays head-to-head six times in the next couple of weeks, and it’s there the division will be decided.

Today, we get the pleasure of filling our bellies with grilled meats and cold beer on another stunning late-summer day in Boston.

RIP Killer Kowalski.
