Bring on the playoffs. If there was any doubt about the health of Josh Beckett, he stomped it out last night. Knowing he was on a limited pitch count, Beckett made the most of the pitches he had: 49 of his 80 pitches were strikes. He went five for the win, striking out seven while walking none and surrendering just four hits. Meanwhile, the “throw in” to the Beckett deal, Mike Lowell, also returned from the DL last night. All he did was go 3-for-5 with a homerun and four RBI. Safe to say, both of these guys are locked and loaded for the post-season.
