Today is the trade deadline. A day of magic and mirth. A day of action and suspense. A day which typically ends rather anti-climactically–much like most of my romantic interludes–with Peter Gammons signing off and gazing longingly into the sunset. The big news for us, of course, is that today marks the one year anniversary of the day that Theo and the Trio unleashed the Magic of Gagne on an unsuspecting crowd. At the time, it sounded pretty sweet to me. But the orgy of terror that followed–situations that seemed to get more embarrassingly preposterous with every Gagne appearance–was the one blemish on last year’s late season action. Indeed, one could say that we won the World Series despite Gagne’s best efforts to throw us off course.

Oh, and something might happen with Manny as well. Stay tuned.
