I taped this SI cover to my office wall the night before Game 4 of the 2004 ALCS.
I haven’t taken it down since.
If ever there’s someone we want to see on the mound when we desperately need a win, it’s… Josh Beckett. And then, possibly, Daisuke. But after those two, it’s definitely Schilling. And tonight, it’s up to Curt to wipe away the ugly stain of last night’s loss. Hopefully, Eric Gagne will be carefully secured with duct tape and bubble wrap and placed in a remote corner of the Fenway catacombs, with lots of cupcakes and milk and Dewey Evans standing guard.
Gorgeous night for a ballgame in Boston, people. Put the Sammy on ice, and we’ll see you at 7:05pm.
