The Red Sox have reportedly been scouting Houston’s Brad Lidge. But that can’t be possible, because Astros skipper Phil Garner tells The Buzz that Lidge isn’t available.

The Red Sox have been monitoring Astros closer Brad Lidge this spring, but Houston manager Phil Garner told the Houston Chronicle Lidge was not available: “We are not shopping Brad Lidge,” Garner said. Lidge has struggled a bit this spring. As of Sunday, he was 1-0 with a 13.50 ERA in six outings. He saved 32 games for the Astros in 2006 and had a career-high 42 saves in 2005.

See, it’s all probably just some crazy misunderstanding. In fact, let’s just forget we ever read this.
