After 10 seasons and nearly 1,000 games played in a Red Sox uniform, the Fenway Faithful must say goodbye to Trot Nixon. Nixon signed a 3 million dollar contract with the Indians for next season.
Things I’ll miss:
The gritty, hard-nosed attitude Nixon brought to every game
The strong arm in right field
The occasional big home run
The always-present ass-kicker in the event of a brawl
Things I won’t miss:
Trot’s name on the DL
Some truly ugly swings against lefties
The 27 HR and 142 RBI he posted over the past three seasons
The jury is out on who will play right field. JD Drew? Maybe. Whoever it is will have some big cleats to fill in the hearts of Red Sox Nation. Right field just won’t be the same.
