By this time tomorrow, I’ll be nursing the dreaded New Year’s hangover, trying to remember where I parked my car, and getting ready to shave my tongue. And it will be 2007. Personally, I can’t wait to say goodbye to 2006. From a baseball standpoint, Red Sox Nation should be just as happy as anyone to tear the next page off the calendar.

After a promising start, the 2006 season was plagued with misery on and off the field. Varitek’s knee surgery. Papi’s palpitations. No big move at the trading deadline. Lester’s diagnosis. The 5-game Yankee massacre. And a third-place finish in the AL East.

2007 has to be better, right?

Happy New Year to all of SG Nation. Be safe and healthy, we need you back. I’m off to spin the wheel’o’drinks and see just how bad ’06 is going to end…
