With just two weeks left until the winter meetings, expect the trade rumors, if not the trades themselves, to start flying. Teams have already been getting their management staffs in place. The usual suspects of Showalter, Piniella and Robinson changing teams along with a few newbies getting their shot. Now the real fun begins. Free agent signings and blockbuster trades are what make the off-season tolerable. Well, that and Roseanne reruns.
Look at some of the names that have been thrown around as possible trades: Manny, A-Rod and Tejada at the top of the list of hitters. Zito and Schmidt will be getting their payoffs. And the Sox still have the magic of signing the Diceman looming. Good times.
Meanwhile, the Celtics have put together a 3-game winning streak, and the Pats play “on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field.” If I had a buck for every time I heard that. With the holidays just around the corner, I’m starting to think I might just survive the off-season after all.
