Red is on the record as taking the Tigers in five. I’m taking it one step further: sweep. This has all the earmarks of Globetrotters versus the New York Nationals. Ditka’s Bears against the Pats in ’86. The Road Runner and Wiley E. Coyote.

Detroit has it all: the pitching, the hitting, the story. But St. Louis? Well…they’ve got bright red uniforms. They have a goofy red bird as a mascot. And they have Tony La Russa leading the way.

La Russa is a very good regular season manager. But the playoffs…they don’t seem to be his groove. I submit 2004 as evidence. And across the diamond sits Jim Leyland. This one is over before it starts. I’m hoping for a few last good games of baseball for the snow flies, but I ain’t holding my breath.

Start watch the Celts…just don’t go clubbing with them.
