A solid win. A nice outing from Colonel Beckett. A home run from Papi. Three hits from A-Gon, whose bat is suddenly filthy with summetime magic. Lead-off round-tripper from Youk. And another save from the Papel-Bot, who totes a staggering 0.26 ERA, officially making him the anti-Clement. But the thing that I loved best about yesterday’s 5-3 win over the Braves was the return of Gabe Kapler. Sure, he’ll kill his fair share of rallies as the summer rolls on, but right now, a touch of that 2004 magic feels just right.
Oh, and unless he gets picked up by immigration, Denton will be attending tonight’s Schill-Smoltz matchup in Atlanta. Be here tomorrow for his report, complete with photos and, I’m sure, at least one story involving a hooker.
