Gabe Kapler returned to Fenway Park to a standing ovation and went 2-4.

David Wells left the game to a rousing ovation after pitching seven strong innings.

When Manny Ramirez came out of the dugout to celebrate the win with his teammates, the crowd began chanting “Manny! Manny!”

And these are the same fans that booed Manny on Friday night? I don’t get it.

Manny-Gate has certainly spun way out of control, but hopefully in a few hours it will all be in the past. And Manny will still be the Red Sox left-fielder. If any of yesterday’s trade rumors are even close to being accurate, there is no value in the deal for the Sox. There is no replacement in the line-up for Manny, and guess what? If Manny goes you can expect a lot more 4-walk games for Ortiz and his production will suffer. When Yankee players are cheering for a trade to go through, it can’t be good for us.

And how about squeaky-clean Mr. Wells speaking out on the ethics of the game regarding Manny? I love Wells and what he’s done for us this year, but keep that shit in the clubhouse.

Another great story involved Schilling confronting Manny and the two having to be pulled apart by Ortiz.

Strange behavior for a team (and their fans) who are defending World Series champs and in first place.
