I read Chris Snow’s recap of Wednesday’s win a couple times, but it wasn’t until the third or fourth reading that I finally latched on to this bit of oddness:
Millar, meanwhile, continued his second-half surge. In 13 games since the All-Star break he’s batting .385 (15 for 39) with 5 doubles, 5 RBIs, and 14 walks. Amazing what a vacation with Mark Bellhorn can do for a guy. OK, it wasn’t a vacation, more a business trip. Millar hoodwinked Bellhorn into a three-day trip to Millar’s hometown of Beaumont, Texas, over the All-Star break, and they spent five hours each day studying video, soft tossing, and hitting in Millar’s brother’s batting cage.
My God, are their enough hookers and kegs in the Lone Star State to support this unholy alliance?
