Word around the campfire (and on Twitter from the likes of Buster Olney, etc) is that the Red Sox have signed Andrew Bailey, sending Josh Reddick to Oakland in exchange (other players likely to be involved as well as the wheels are still spinning on this). In three seasons as closer for the A’s, Bailey has 75 saves and a 2.07 ERA.
Last time we snagged an Oakland closer, it worked out pretty good (at least until Keith Foulke delivered his infamous “Johnny from Burger King” oration). Here’s hoping for more of the same.
