If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to feel Fenway’s grass under your feet but didn’t want to jump on the field mid-game or storm through the clubhouse and risk encountering a shirtless Youk, you’ll be thrilled to know that Fenway Park grass seed is now available.
Each sack allegedly contains the “actual varieties” of seed used to create Fenway’s lush expanse of green.
The $22 bags of baseball blend bear the Red Sox logo and the signature of David Mellor, the team’s director of grounds, who helped Scotts create the Kentucky bluegrass seed mix and companion lawn fertilizer.
“It will be ready by Opening Day,” pitched John Price, Scotts’ brand manager. “I think it’s going to be hugely popular with Red Sox Nation. It couples people’s desire to have a great lawn and their affinity for the Red Sox.”
If I ever needed inspiration to bulldoze the homestead and build a Fenway replica in its wake, this is it. Hell, I’ve already got the fully pose-able Heidi and Gammons dolls.
