Listen, we spend a lot of time here screwing around and talking about baseball. It’s fun, and at times, it even seems important. But it’s a game, a distraction from the hard stuff that happens in our real lives. Then something happens, something so real that even we, the greatest fans in the world, can’t ignore it. That’s when we become the greatest people in the world. And we help those who need it, we give what we can’t really afford, and we try to make things right when they’ve gone horribly wrong.
The following clips are bloody and sad and scary. I honestly can’t imagine what the people of Haiti are going through, but I can do something small, I can give a little, and maybe if we all do that, we collectively make a difference.
