Including last night’s Wakefield meltdown, the Red Sox have played 12 games in May. They are 7-5 in those games, not bad considering six were against the Rays, three versus the Yankees and the two games played in LA. If not for the clutch bat of Jason Bay, the Sox would likely be sub-500 in May.

Stolen Bases: 2

Again, all of that production came in 12 games. Bay had 5 HR’s and 19 RBI in 22 games in April, batting .324 for the month.

I’d say it’s time for the Sox to sweep aside their “we don’t negotiate during the season” rule and get this guy locked up.
