Here’s all you need to know about the Manny situation. When he and Ortiz are in the line-up together (and healthy), every game is within reach. I submit last night’s game as Exhibit A. The duo went 5-for-9 with a home run, two doubles, five RBI (three of them the 2-out variety) and four runs scored. And Manny just missed another outfield assist with a nice barehanded grab off the wall and throw to second, not to mention a 410-foot flyout to the triangle in one of his at-bats.
Trades that send Youk – a guy that hasn’t made an error at first base since…a week ago never – to left field? Or bring in the great clubhouse presence and all-around nice guy Barry Bonds? Give me Manny, every day.
