Just what is Bobby Valentine doing while his pitchers are melting down? Last night should have been an easy six-plus inning outing and win for Clay Buchholz. Instead, Valentine insists on leaving in his pitcher until the situation becomes ugly. Does he think it’s a rule that pitchers need to go seven innings? Or that you can’t take a guy out until he’s loaded the bases? He can get away with this when the offense is piling up runs against the likes of the White Sox and Athletics, but against better teams? I don’t think so.
And tonight Doubront has let up five and thrown 94 pitches through four innings. Better bring Cook up, you’re gonna need him.
