Is there anything, I mean anything, better than seeing Ortiz practically skip out of the dugout for a curtain call? First of all, to see a guy who is listed at 230 pounds (but is probably a coupla Twinkies shy of 260) skip is amazing. But considering Ortiz’s struggles this season, it’s pretty frickin’ special. The icing on the cake-of-awesome is that number four came in a 0-0 game against the Yankees and one of their high-priced free agents. I’m calling it: Big Papi is back.
On the other side of the series finale tonight is Brad Penny. I’ll fess up – I spent the day predicting he would get shelled by the Yankee bats. Penny, like so many before him, proved me wrong. He just struck out Matsui with a runner on second to end the sixth. Sox up 1-0. Will Papi’s homer stand as the game winner? Or will he strut back to the plate later and smack another? Keep watching…
