It all started a year ago, after the Patriots beat the Chargers on their own turf. LT issued his “no class” statement, and the Chargers haven’t stopped talking since.

“When you go to the middle of our field, when you start doing the dance that Merriman is known for, that’s disrespectful to me. And I can’t sit there and watch that. And so, yeah, I was very upset. And just the fact that they showed no class at all. Absolutely no class. And maybe that comes from their head coach. So you know, there you have it.”

Chargers center Nick Hardwick on Richard Seymour:

He’s cheap and dirty and the head man just let him get away with it the whole time,” Hardwick said. “They’ve got 10 great players on that team and when
Jarvis Green comes on the field, they’ve got 11 great players who compete how you’re supposed to play. But Richard Seymour is the biggest (expletive) I’ve ever played.”

And of course Igor Olshansky, after pretending he hadn’t heard of the Patriots:

“But seriously, they’re more worried than we are… I promise you…because, ah, they know what’s up.”

Here’s what’s up: Patriots 21, Chargers 12.

While the Chargers failed to get into the end zone, no-heart LT watched from the sideline. In the biggest game of his career, he couldn’t go.

The 18-0 Pats will take on the NY Giants and “the other Manning” in the Superbowl while LT and company look on. That’s what’s up.
