The New York Mets currently have the second-best record in the National League. New York is trying to hold off the Atlanta Braves in the National League East and the Mets are also trying to catch the Los Angeles Dodgers for the top seed in the National League. With the Mets being managed by Buck Showalter, they have four all-stars for the 2022 MLB All-Star Game, but none will be starting.

The MLB point spread will be out for the MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 19. There will be other festivities on Sunday, July 17 with the MLB futures game. New York Mets prospects catcher Francisco Alvarez and third baseman Mark Vientos will represent. Monday, July 18 will be the Home Run Derby, and first baseman Pete Alonso will look to three-peat. Who is going to Los Angeles, California for the New York Mets for the MLB All-Star festivities?

Pete Alonso
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso is one of their representatives. He is having a career year, but he was not able to beat out St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt in the voting process. MLB picks today gives Alonso a chance to be an MVP candidate for the National League. He is not batting .300 but has over 20 home runs and is on pace to drive in over 100 RBIs this season.

If New York wins the National League East or just let alone makes the playoffs, then he should at least be a finalist for the award. Pete Alonso is a great ambassador not only for the New York Mets, but also for the game of baseball though.

Jeff McNeil
Second baseman Jeff McNeil is also going to the MLB All-Star Game. Manager Buck Showalter gave him a good word for it. McNeil does not hit a lot of home runs or drive in a lot of runs, but he hits for a very good average and is on one of the best teams in all of baseball. Jazz Chisholm Jr. of the Miami Marlins is the starting second baseman for the National League in the 2022 MLB All-Star Game and he rightfully deserves it.

Starling Marte
Outfielder Starling Marte is a backup. He was a finalist to potentially start, but Marte did not beat outfielder San Francisco Giants Joc Pederson or Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts. Ronald Acuna Jr. of the Atlanta Braves led the National League in All-Star Game voting. He is the other starter. Marte has been really valuable to the New York Mets this season in the field and with the bat.

Edwin Diaz
The last All-Star is New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz. It appears as if he is the best closer in all of baseball this season. Diaz has pitched in 36.0 innings this season and has struck out 73 batters. He is 19-of-22 in save opportunities. His record is 2-1 with a 1.73 ERA. Edwin Diaz has been solid all season and it doesn’t even feel like that he has blown three saves. That is how good he has been this year and MLB predictions agree.

He has only been there best reliever this season. The New York Mets will need to get help with the bullpen at the trade deadline, along with getting some bats to improve the lineup with power though. General manager Billy Eppler and owner Steve Cohen will take care all of that.

It was a little surprise that shortstop Francisco Lindor did not make it to the MLB All-Star Game. Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Trea Turner and Atlanta Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson made it over him though. Lindor for the New York Mets is making $341 million a season and a lot of fans have gotten on him.

Cleveland Guardians second baseman Andres Giminez was in the trade that sent Lindor to New York and he is starting for them in the American League in the 2022 MLB All-Star Game.

Had Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer been healthy for the New York Mets in the starting rotation, they both could have received invites to the All-Star Game. However, when both of them start pitching together, it is going to be a tough scene for opposing teams though.
